Since I often use the situation I am in as a starting point for my work, I was asked to work on-site for the duration of the exhibition. This is the first of two images that shows me working. I started the drawing the day after the opening and continued working on it each day of the exhibition.
This is the second image that shows me working on-site. I write in my drawings in Spanish and English and use a dictionary when I need to check the meaning of a word. This often opens a new area of exploration and takes me on unexpected detours in the work.
This view shows the gallery with the work in progress on the floor. The drawing remained on the floor throughout the exhibit and visitors were invited to discuss the work and my process. Ideas triggered by these conversations often became part of the writing in the work.
